Missing DocViewer for Students to use in Peer Review

Based on the student instructions here {How do I submit a peer review to an assignment} students should be able to leave annotated feedback in the DocViewer but this function is missing. 

I've logged in as an external user (like a student) and have confirmed that the highlighted portion in the screenshot is missing.

Could someone shed some light? Or does the instructions for students on the link above require updating?

Hi @ymsoh,

If the assignment a file upload submission type?  The annotations will generally only be available for file uploads, not text or other submission types, so I wanted to confirm that before going through other thoughts.  Let us know about this so we can give some advice and figure out the best path forward.

Hi Chris,

Yes, it was a file upload submission type. I used an external account (like a student), and tested it by uploading a word doc. And the DocViewer ribbon is missing.

Hi @ymsoh,

Darn, this one is going to be tough to troubleshoot.  I don't know of or see any permissions around peer reviews documented, and I have not ever encountered this at the institution I work for.  I think ti will be best to contact Canvas support through whatever options you have available so someone with more access than we have in the community can take a look at things and hopefully figure out what is going on.
