I am an instructor and looking at the instructor view in Canvas Gradebook, What is the meaning of the red dot icon in the upper left corner of the grade book columns? It appeared for the first time yesterday in some Discussion Board columns.
Thank you

Hi @JodiannPhillips,
The dot in the upper left (I think it's actually orange) indicates that the grade you have entered in that cell is not yet visible to students. Once you are done grading and post the grades (since you have the assignments set to manual posting policy), the dots will go away.
Hope this helps!

Thank you Chris. I was just curious as this was the very first time I had seen this since we started using Canvas several years ago.
Does this mean the grade was included in the final semester grade or does the dot just signify "hidden"?
Hi @LRWC,
The unposted grades would be included in the teacher gradebook, but there will be slashed eyeball icon next to the total signifying that the student would see a different grade (without the unposted grades factored in) when they view the grades page on their own. Once all grades are posted, the slashed eyeball icon next to the totals would disappear, signifying the teacher and student are seeing the same info.

Hello, jumping in here since I have the same question. I understand that the grade is hidden (was hidden, as this is from last term) but does having the red dot keep the grade from being part of the total average for the semester?
Ok, thanks Jordan!
Also, when i want to go back to the speed grader for that student, it won't let me in. Plus, when I push on the arrow where I can submit a grade, it won't let me go or see higher than B. Do you know why and how I can change it?
Sorry I meant, Jodiann!
Ok, Chris!
