Under "assign to" when editing a quiz, my courses don't show up

When I'm trying to add an assignment to different courses with different due dates, under the "assign to" section, none of my courses are listed as options. Only "everyone" and one other course is listed. Does anyone know how to fix this? I need to add this assignment for over 100 courses and it's too tedious to copy each individually. Thanks!

Hello @sescates ...

The "Assign to" field typically only shows student names in the course you are currently in ... or sections within the course.  Are you saying that you have over 100 sections within the single course?  Or, are you saying that you have over 100 courses (each with it's own Canvas course shell)?  The "Assign to" field is not how you would copy that particular assignment from course to course...if that is what you are wanting to do.  The "Assign to" is really used for differentiated assignments for things like availability and due dates.  See this Guide for more details: How do I view differentiated assignments with diff... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).

If you have one assignment that you are trying to add to separate (different) courses, you might want to look at either Blueprint courses or Canvas Commons.  Those might be better ... especially if you want to copy the same assignment into multiple courses.

All this being said, it would be interesting to hear how you have these 100+ courses configured...either using Sections or by using completely separate couse shells.  Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.

Sorry for the original confusion, I have 141 (separate) Canvas courses that I am attempting to add the same assignment to. My director originally assigned me this task in effort to transform the "new" quiz into an "old/classic" quiz and add it to each course and delete the "new" quiz version. Unfortunately, I do not have the authority to institute Blueprint Courses or Canvas Commons. My director simply wants to me to complete this task, and I was trying to find a more efficient way of doing it instead of clicking "copy to" 141 times.

So you are wanting to convert New Quizzes back to current Classic Quizzes?  Have you and your director discussed that Classic Quizzes are eventually going away?  While I know that there have been some individuals here in the Community that have expressed frustrations about New Quizzes and the want to return back to Classic Quizzes ... mainly because of feature parity ... I think it's also valuable to have discussions with folks at your school about the Classic Quizzes/New Quizzes timeline ... if you've not seen this yet.  Check this out:

I would agree with @SusanNiemeyer.  You should probably have a conversation with your director.  And, if you are not a Canvas administrator at your school, get them involved in the conversation, too.  They may have some suggestions on things they can do to help you accomplish this task in a quicker way.

Maybe you need to have a conversation with your director about how to effectively set up these Canvas courses. What you're doing now is a real time killer.
