changing grading algorithm to ignore a 0 entry in averaging

Ok, folks, a little overwhelmed here. I used gradebook to average biweekly participation grades this semester. one student had an emergency and i told her the 0 for that one class grade would be dropped on averaging. How do I alter the algorithm to ignore that zero?  I gather there are ways but can't figure out how to transform into actions. Many thanks.

Hi @CarolynMarvin,

I think the easiest thing to do would be to either remove the 0 grade for that student entirely, or change the status/grade to excused.  Either one of those options should fix up that single student without affecting the rest of the class.  Hope one of them works for you!
