I was wondering how you delete a submitted assignment by a student. The student submitted the assignment in the wrong place and I am unable to delete this assignment.
Any answers????

Hi @JimKerns,
Generally Canvas is designed to keep almost all data around, which can be good for reporting and other things, but bad for a situation like this. The student can usually just resubmit a new attempt with the right work to fix up most things. If they submitted a doc with confidential info, your school's admin team may be able to delete the file from the original submission (but the submission record itself would remain).

My student accientally submitted a confidential Team assessment to the Group project (by mistake). Now, her negative feedback is visible to her team members, and neither she nor I can remove that submission. As instructor, I should to be able to at least "move" a submission. Perhaps also the student ought to be able to Preview their submission (with a preview mode that shows the Assignment name and a portion of the paper contents) before submitting it. Geez. I will contact my OIT to ask them to remove the submission.
This is a serious problem that makes an LMS much worse than working with paper. If instructors cannot undo student (or instructor) mistakes that potentially violate legal protections we have a problem. Fix this! Instructors should be able to delete files without having to do extra work or add to the typically excessive burden of typical school LMS administrators. Keeping a history of what was done and by whom is a good idea, but making it difficult to remove erroneous or confidential uploads is a really bad idea. I am stuck with students having access to other students' work who should not.
These steps will not work to delete just one student's submission. Once a student has submitted an assignment, it's in Canvas permanently.
Those steps did work for me as well. Our faculty would like to see Canvas add the feature to delete student submissions. If that isn't possible please add a feature that would allow the Teacher of a course to allow an additional attempt for only one student.
I think there is a way to allow an additional attempt for only one student. When you edit the assignment, select "Assign to." It will let you reassign the same assignment to a particular section, student, or students. ( I would like the ability to delete erroneous uploads, though.)
