In April, Studio released the ability to download transcripts on videos that have captions. I have an instructor wondering if this feature can be disabled. Is this possible?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi @morloff, at this time any media that includes captioning will cause the Download Transcript link to appear. There isn't an option to disable that.
You can always view our Themes and Ideas area if that is something you would like to see developed.
Thanks

@morloff, without me asking judgmentally, would you be willing to share why one of your instructors wants to disable the ability to download the transcript? I have an idea of why but I am curious to know if my thoughts align with your instructor's. Thank you!
The transcript is generated along with the captions. Any edits that you make to the captions won't appear in the transcript. As captions almost always need editing, I'd like to disable the auto-generated transcript, instead providing a link to an edited one immediately below the video.
I'll answer. Download the transcript into an AI engine and it will summarize everything in seconds. If I want a student to watch a video and pay attention, I can generate a quiz for them to answer afterward. But with download transcript, AI can answer the quiz for the student.
