In Canvas SpeedGrader, users can open the Rubric and toggle between the three different rubric views. It is currently set to Traditional as default but teachers can switch to horizontal or Vertical.
Feature Request
We would like the ability to mark Horizontal or Vertical as the default view so we don't have to change it each time we open the Rubric.

Hi @MARTHADELAPAZ ...
This sounds like you'd want to submit this as a new idea here in the Canvas Community website. I'm not sure if you are aware of this or not, but there's a separate area here in the Community where you can submit ideas. Check out the documentation here under "Ideas and Themes": Instructure Community Guide - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).
I know this wasn't an exact answer to your question, but I hope this helps in some way.
Thank you for sending over this link, @Chris_Hofer !
I posted my idea here.

When will this be implemented? I see in October you plan to add it as an ongoing enhancement, but it is now April and still not an option.
Thank you.
Why on earth is THIS marked as a solution to the issue?
Same question. This seems like a fairly minor and much-needed change in the layout. What does it take to implement an update like this?
Hi @Spencer802 @wendybk @Spencer802. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. We have a lot of exciting improvements coming to 'Enhanced Rubrics' by the end of September and early October. Rubric layouts will persist, so whatever view you select will stay as you move between students/sessions.
This is an improvement. Even better would be a super compact view with no words so that there is minimal clicking, scrolling, etc. Instructors frequently use the same rubrics for many, many assignments and at some point we know the criteria very well. All we want is a very quick way to select scores and move on. The SUBMIT button at the bottom should be left justified so we don't have to pan over to the right to find it. Honestly sometimes I wonder if you have even one instructor test these things out. Work with a tester, have them give you detailed notes, and fix every issue so they are happy. I will do that job for you if you pay me $100 K a year. I will tell you exactly what you should do to make a tool work.
@jon_hoekstra This an interesting use case, thanks for the suggestion. We will definitely keep this in mind as we refine the feature. The new horizontal and vertical layouts will certainly have less scrolling. Though we're not currently hiring testers right now, we appreciate the offer!
