Yes! As @dhulsey suggested, a course hack night for non-programmers who are interested would be pretty cool. Not sure how that looks in all actuality. I'd even be down to watch the programmers go to town if there isn't enough interest for the novice level program hack night, but I'm interested none the less. 
This is why we all love the OG InstaCon attendee's like @mjennings to give us some insight into years past!
You bring up an interesting question, @mjennings . Hack Night is booked in Shevano and Red Cloud Peak at the Conference Center this year.
This will be year number seven for me going to the conference and what has evolved into Hack Night has always been one of my favorite, most useful parts of Instructurecon.
We added a Course Hack Night component, I think it was in 2014 to be more inclusive and that seems to be more or less attractive to most people. How would you (not just Matthew, dear readers) like to see the room laid out this year? Do you think developers and course designers and admins should be encouraged to separate or all mix together?
Last year we had table top signs that people could write the topics they are discussing. Some used them and some didn't, which is totally OK. What should we do this year?
One thing I was thinking about was coming up with a series of potential topics and printing them in such a way that they could be hanging on a wall with the intent that people who want to discuss a given topic take that sign and attach it to their table top signage. If we did that, what topics would be good?

I was hoping to lock one and direct people to the other, but in keeping with the organic nature of their generation, and after looking through the conversations, I see value in maintaining both. They are still active for different but related reasons.
So I'm going to "cross-link" as you suggest, and hope for the best.
I like the idea of Topics because many people coming to Hacknight will wear multiple hats. Similar to how Khaki was set up, I think being able to float from group to group would be great.
Many hacks that I'm aware of in Canvas are ones from @James and @kona in the https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-8591-canvancements-canvas-enhancements?sr=search&searchId=d... page.
Personally, our institution is gunning for any way to get custom reporting out of Canvas that we can without going RedShift. Recently discovering that Redshift data has a 2 day latency has caused us to get more creative. Any way we can "hack" to get more info (API calls seem to be the most promising option) I'm sure would garner a lot of attention.

As an introvert myself I can relate. 
Yes, it has seemed useful to have employees or other volunteer hosts circulate and try to connect with or connect newcomers. We circle around the outskirts and try to find people who look like they don't know where to go and may be on the verge of bailing. This year we had 11 slots for employee volunteers to attend and help at hack night and currently we have 26 signed up! That being said, the more volunteer facilitators the better. We will work with the events team to organize table top sign holders, signs, name badges, etc. It sounds like mixed table configuration but with plenty of room and quieter corners is what people want.
Lol! I am sorry I am going to miss that, Kona. Hopefully, your session will be videoed. That way, I can see it, and you can use it to embarrass the kids years from now.
It is true! I will be presenting with the VP of Product from Turnitin. stefaniesanders, since you mention that, do you know why the schedule on the mobile app and the schedule on the conference website are different? My session does not appear on the mobile app.
