I am new for canvas and I want to enable the analytics feature to show who has completed the growing with canvas course in our sandbox sub account. However, I don't see this icon show up from my course, how can I enable it?

@JamesRong ...
@chriscas and I were having a chat about this, and he suggested that you escalate this to Canvas Support to see what they have to say. They may be able to take a deeper dive into your Canvas account and look at what might be the exact issue. We would both be curious to know what you find. So, if after talking with Canavs Support you could come back to this topic to provide an update, that would be fantastic!
Thanks much!
Hi @JamesRong,
You may want to reach out to one of your local Canvas administrators (usually in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas) to ask about the permissions they have setup on your Canvas instance for the role you have in that course. You generally won't be able to adjust Canvas permissions yourself, and it seems likely that analytics are disabled for some reason (the guide you linked even mentions it's a permission).
The only other possibility I can think of is that your institution enabled New Analytics, which would slightly change the name of the button, but I imagine you could have seen and clicked that anyways.
Hope this helps a bit!

Hi @chriscas In fact, I am from IT and my account is the global admin account. Am I do something wrong? We just start using Canvas and we haven't change any setting yet. How to let teacher to see their analytics from their own course?
Thx,
James
Hi @JamesRong,
You can check out the permissions area to see what roles currently have the analytics permission enabled. it seems likely that it's not abled for your admin role for some reason. There is a handy guide for admin/account role permissions that goes into details about what each one does (you can search "analytics" from your browser on that page to find relevant sections). Similarly there is a guide for course role permissions that would apply to roles like teachers and students.
I hope this provides some further help!

Good morning, @JamesRong ...
Just to add to what @chriscas has said, New Analytics is a Feature Option that can be toggled on/off at the Canvas account level. When you go to your Feature Options screen at the account level, you'll want to scroll down to the heading "Course" and then look for the option "New Course and User Analytics". There are essentially four "states" that you can turn this feature on/off:
You can read more about this at How do I manage new features for an account? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).
I hope this will also be of some help to you!
I check with the setting from my canvas site carefully. So the first thing I can confirm is the my account has the root permission and the root site and the new course and analytics feature is enable in the feature tab there.
Then when I jump into the sub account level called "sandbox", I can't find the new course and user analytics feature under the feature tab, there is no way for me to enable it. All the course under this sub account won't have the analytics feature too. So This may be the reason in my mind. However, I am the admin for this sub account too so I check with the permission setting and looks like my account has the analytics feature enable. So what am I missing to cause all the trouble?

I know this is an old thread, however, I recently had this same issue so I thought I would share what fixed it for me. When I went to Permissions > Account Roles the green check mark was there for the Admin Analytics already but I clicked on it and changed it from "Default" to "Enabled". Admin Analytics is now working for our Account Owner Role.
