The success of a Broadway musical isn't solely dependent on those performers on stage, but the magicians behind-the-scenes, too. In other words, your Canvas Community Team is the backstage crew who make your community spectacular-spectacular.

If you see them wandering around InstructureCon signing autographs chatting up the Canvas Community, be sure to say hello and get to know them. They may not sing and dance, but when it comes to getting your best performance, they certainly can help you set the stage.

HOW DO I GET THAT DIGITAL BADGE??

1. Find one of us and introduce yourself!
2. Ask us a question. (We'll answer anything.)

I found  @biray ​ and  @Renee_Carney ​. I even jumped off a cart that was going uphill to catch them (Some extra swag or points?).  

So i asked them what was the most interesting thing they had ever eaten.   @Renee_Carney ​ ate a bear that she shot and field dressed herself!  @biray ​ encountered some Chicken Claw Soup (with real chicken claw, not imitation) in Mexico.

Just ran into  @biray ​ and  @Renee_Carney   I asked them how many hours of sleep they got last night.  I feel like the community team is always online helping.  Last night, Deactivated user​ was posting when I went to sleep and was already online when I woke up and I only slept three hours.  You're setting a high bar community team.

Yeah!!!  @asells ​ and  @jess_thompson ​ are here!!!!  I've heard a lot of great accessibility questions in precon sessions.  Alissa and Jess can help guide you in design for accessibility.

 @travis_thurston ​ and I got the chance to speak with  @scottdennis ​ today! We've noticed that instcon​ has some serious swagger and wondered how the canvascommunityteam​ accounts for taking that to the streets, that is to say the community online presence. Scott was more than happy to oblige us with a great response. He mentioned that he would not want to work anywhere but Canvas because of the sheer amount of unique users. The fact that so many Canvas users, from all backgrounds, can come together within the community and share their frustrations and triumphs, is a big win. The doors are open for everyone to offer up their knowledge, you can always count on someone to respond, help and discuss.

We enjoy this Canvas community and know that these Community Team Members make it possible for us to connect daily!

He also made himself shorter to make Travis feel better, when you meet him you will discover just how tall he is!

We asked Scott how the communityteam can take the amazing energy and excitement from InstructureCon​ and harness it in the Community. As  @ewander ​ mentioned above, Scott loves how all of the different users with different needs are willing to jump in help others when they see a need. We all love using the LMS and the Canvas Community​ it an ideal virtual space where we can meet virtually to spin ideas, and collaborate with one another between our face to face sessions at instructurecon​.

So I caught up with  @Renee_Carney  today and asked her if she wanted a cookie. She did and she likes peanut butter cookies. She also has an amazing story about delivering a baby cow. hadtobethere

I ran into  @scottdennis ​ today during the vendor showcase!  We remembered the good old days when Scott came to Florida to help train a room full of Pasco staff members back in 2013.  Because Scott is so awesome, he suggested we create a Pasco community group in Jive and told us how to do it.  We are so on that!  Since he is almost twice my height, our selfie involved some serious deep knee bends.

I want to state for the record that Deactivated user​ is a crazy man - no labor laws were broken in the making of this community platform....

I really love my job.  As a community team we try to embody the Instructure way - be open and transparent, focus on getting the real work done, listen to the users.  I wouldn't want to do community work anywhere else.  Erin mentioned swagger and there is a little of that.  We try to make things fun for people but really we don't have to generate excitement - more getting out the way is the task at hand.  Everyday we get to work with excited, engaged people who want to connect with each other and help each other be successful as educators.  Our job is to try to help them do that - that's it.
