What types of files can I upload to Canvas Student ePortfolios?

A variety of file types can be uploaded or imported to Canvas Student ePortfolios. 

Canvas Student ePortfolios projects can only accept file attachments up to 4 GB.

  • JPE
  • JPG

  • MP3
  • MPEG

  • MPEG4
  • MPG
  • PNG
  • WAV

Note: Some file types can only be added to a project if they are an assignment.

Microsoft Files

  • Microsoft Excel (XLS, XLSX, XLAM, XLSB, XLSM, XLTM, and XLTX)
  • Microsoft Powerpoint (PPT, PPTX, POTM, POTX, PPSM, and PPSX)
  • Microsoft Word (DOC and DOCX)
  • Word Open XML Macro-Enabled Document (DOCM, DOTM, and DOTX)
