Hi folks, it looks like Scott the Magnificent has already created us a CanvasHacks public classroom to play in, and enrolled us as teachers.
Any thoughts on structure? I have a similar course that is mostly complete that I am preparing for my faculty that I could upload to provide a bit of structure. It is intended for non-coders, and has the following module structure:
However, I am not a pushy sort, so whatever anybody else wants, I am more than happy to go along with. I can always upload stuff a piece at a time and fit it where I can.
My "lessons" are all one page, and include:
Let me know what your think!
Oh yah, and I also have a hokey Home page, because that's just the kind of guy I am:)
Solved! Go to Solution.
Great idea, Kelley.
I created a course shell in resources.instructure.com. It looks like well over 60 people have already requested either student or teacher level access. Those of you with teacher level access, feel free to invite your friends. Anyone else interested, please comment to that effect. @kmeeusen and the super helpful @Ron_Bowman have been great about going in and inviting folks.
Thanks
Scott
DM me in this community with your first and last names and your email address, and I will enroll you.
Kelley
For anyone that is still looking for these resources (@StephanieNg @g0nicba @Nhadley12 ), I found the following blog post from @kmeeusen: Free for Teachers Fun & CanvasHacks Demo Course In the blog post, it is mentioned that @kmeeusen publicly shared these resources in Canvas Commons with the course name "Do Not Fear the Code!" According to the blog post it has the same content that is available in the CanvasHacks course.
I was able to find this in Canvas Commons and added it to my own Sandbox course for quick access.
Please add me as a teacher clong@hbuhsd.edu
thanks!

Jill, because this course resides in Instructure Resources, you may need to create an account and should have been prompted for such. I think that the same email you use for the Canvas Community will also work. I wish Scott Dennis was here (on vacation), because he created the classroom for us and would know more. Perhaps Renee Carney or Kona can help.
May I have Teacher access, please?
Welcome aboard, Bonnie!
You should be getting your invite shortly.
Enjoy!
May I have teacher access, please? Thank you!
Great resource. Please add me as student when you have a chance. Thanks!
James:
It is done, and you should receive your invite soonest.
Enjoy!
Please add me as a teacher. Thanks!
Kelley,
I would like student access please.
Delia
Hi Delia:
Shoot me you email address in a private message, and I will hook you up.
Kelley
Hi @kmeeusen , could you add me as a teacher too? Not sure how to send a private message. Thanks!
Colin
Criss:
I need your email address - the one you use for your Community ID.
Click on my name and choose message.
Soon as I get it I will hook you up.
Not sure if this is the correct place to reply - are you still adding people?
Please invite me as a teacher if possible - muchas gracias!
Crista:
It is never too late! I will add folks until the cows come home if I can.
You should get your invite soonest. Welcome aboard and enjoy!
We are up to 112 participants now - woo hoo!
This is awesome. We are almost a MOOC! And folks are now finding time to add their own hacks, so I am back to learning again.
And @brad_hinson , I think creating an External Apps/LTI Module is an awesome idea. For some newer users, this will open up new opportunities for customizing Canvas that may not know is available. Are you going to do this for us, Brad?
Thanks, everybody, this is getting too cool for my school!
Yep. Consider it done. Adding a Module called Embeds & External Apps.
Awesome, Brad!
Thank you!
Ok, I don't know what is going on with the various "accounts" of mine! I wish everything would work with my campus log-in for our Canvas. Should I try a different email for a new instructure account? Even when I log in with my other personal email, this course (which I used to be in) doesn't show up!
What do you recommend? Should I make a new account with a third email address first and then you try using that one?
Mine is doing the same thing- I have tried for a week. I don't want to do anything that would confuse my school account.

I am unsure if you would be able to merge an Instructure Resources account Into your school account, if that is what you are asking. I would contact @scottdennis to see if he can better help you.
Kelley
Hey @kmeeusen , and @jbrooks and erinbreaux,
I think part of the confusion is that we use the word "account" to refer to both a user and sometimes also to an instance of Canvas. Resources.instructure.com and yourschool.instructure.com are different instances (or accounts). You can use the same email address as your username in both instances but you'll need to log into the instance that houses the course in order to see it listed in your courses dropdown menu.
Does that make sense? Are you experiencing other issues?
Sorry to hear that you received a sales call at home. If you create a user account in canvas.instructure.com that alerts the market development folks that you are indeed trying Canvas. If you create a user in resources.instructure.com or your institution's instance that won't create the same trigger.
Please add me as a student to the classroom...thanks!!

I forgot to include my email to be added to the course, it is nolisd@easternflorida.edu
Thanks,
