As of last week, audio files are not playing on Canvas in the iPad application.
The files are all mp3 files and regularly play on Desktop/Windows, but when students try to access them on their iPads they do not have the "play" feature or button.
Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a solution?
It happens in all Canvas assignments, be it Quizzes or regular Assignments.

I believe the issue with the play button not appearing was fixed about a week ago. If anyone is still experiencing the problem, I'd definitely recommend that you contact Canvas support to let them know.

I do not have an answer for you but I have included @AkosFarago. Akos is the Product Manager of Canvas Studio and has been working on the updated media player that was documented in the release notes at Canvas Release Notes (2025-04-19) - Instructure Community - 637511 .

Thank you - this needs to be resolved otherwise our whole department cannot give final exams on Canvas because of the audio tracks not working!

I received notices from @AkosFarago in a few other places (for example: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/New-Media-Player/td-p/640798) and a fix will be deployed.

Hi @AkosFarago, a teacher reports that her embedded audio recordings, mp3's, aren't playing on her or her students' iPhones. Is that related to this iPad problem? Has it been fixed? They work well in Windows, although she did have a problem last night with Edge on a PC, May 5, that wasn't there this morning on May 6.

Good Afternoon. I am still having this same issue on my iPad. Both the website and the App however no luck, tried using an external keyboard and still not working. Please let me know if this can be resolved ASAP

Since a fix was released for this and you are experiencing a problem, I would recommend that you report this directly to Canvas Support using the options that are available to you in the "Help" area of Canvas.
If you have already done that, please provide your case number and hopefully @AkosFarago (or a member of their team) will see it.
