Each year, the Community Team takes a moment to summarize all of the amazing things that occur in the Instructure Community. While we’re excited about the activities and updates we have planned for you in 2024, it’s humbling to highlight the ways Instructure Community members came together and made a difference in 2023. 

This last month has been an incredible celebration of our Instructure Community. We’ve taken time to feature moments from our history and focus on contributions throughout the Community. Now, it’s time to place the spotlight on the potential of our future. Where will we be at 3 Million? It’s time to get that panda-shaped crystal ball I referenced a few weeks ago !

It's official! Instructure's Community is now celebrating the remarkable journey to 2 million members. With each click, each post, and each interaction, this Community is building a brighter future for education - one where support and inspiration are readily available to all who seek it.

2 Million Members, Holy Panda! This Community continues to impress and excite us with every new season! We truly have shared so many fond memories and experiences during the last 10 years! We ask members of the Instructure Community - past and present - to share their favorite moments in Community using our shared Padlet. Hey Community. Canvas Fam. Yes, you. 🫵 Let's Chat.

Each step in the Community’s 8-year history needed different care and different supports to thrive, the mission and one key element were constant as membership and resource counts climbed. YOU. The people who come to the Community to advance their understanding of a product or connect with others keep returning, keep sharing, and keep learning. You make the Community flourish.

Starting June 1, and running for the next six months, we’re going to recognize Community members who help others by sharing solutions in the Question Forums. With the goal of enablement, you share resources and best practices, you are really making it possible for everyone to maximize their use of Instructure products.

As we wrap up Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment and add my voice of thanks to all of our educators. Your hard work and dedication in the classroom, whether in person or virtual, don’t go unnoticed. 

Thank you, teachers, from a fellow former teacher and always advocate of education. The dedication and hard work you put in every day drive our business forward.

Thank you, Teachers! You are the driving force behind what we do at Instructure. When you succeed, we all succeed. Thank you for your commitment to education and for inspiring us to create tools to help you with your mission.

I learn and grow from what you share, ultimately making my own teaching practice that much better. And your spirit is quite frankly, awesomely inspiring.

I’m excited to share that Instructure is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week May 8-12th, 2023! 

While our celebration aligns with the end of the school year in North America and Europe, we're ready to thank all educators who make a difference every day in the lives of countless learners and spread some Instructure love. Whatever you teach and wherever you may live or work, we want to ensure you are appreciated for everything you do for your students! 

As we look to 2023 with great anticipation, we can’t help but note all of the wonderful activities that occurred in the Instructure Community throughout 2022. Community is about coming together, collaborating, and celebrating ongoing improvements in teaching and learning. You make that possible, and for that, thank you for everything you contribute to the ever-growing Community.  🎉

2021 is nearly over and we've been reflecting on all the amazing questions, ideas, replies, blog posts, events, and more that you, our wonderful Instructure Community members, have created and participated in. We want to celebrate your amazing contributions as another year comes to a close—because ultimately, that's what this community is all about: celebrating the individual contributions that come together to make a greater whole. Thank you for posting your questions, for answering questions from fellow educators, administrators, students, parents, and other faculty, and for making this the best place to learn about and get help for Canvas and the rest of Instructure's products.

In early March, we knew what was coming.

I’ve noticed a word pop up a lot lately in the Community.

Ahhh! How is March almost over?!? I have no idea where this month has gone! So as to not let my fellow Canvas Community puzzle pieces down, here's a stab at this month's challenge.

Because I am not a person that can work alone in a silo, I seek out the power of community in all that I do. 

For me; Community means moving from a transactional state of mind to a relational state.  By this I mean moving beyond a world view where all motivation essentially falls into two categories, which are Self Interest and Caring for Others (Self vs Others).  Instead, motivation becomes 'other-ish' meaning that you realize that you can best help yourself by helping others.

We all interpret the word COMMUNITY in different ways.  We all live in some type of community...whether in a small town, in a residential community, etc.  In these types of communities, we might be in the same part of the world, but we have different interests.  For me, it's having a sense of belonging...that you feel welcome.  Community is also sharing and talking about common interests...even in smaller group settings.

I've been fortunate to belong to a few communities. Some more effective and healthy than others.

A community is a group of people whose experiences are clustered around a common theme. They can be in the same location in person or online, and each member can find a way to contribute to their shared interests.

A place where i find people with a common interest. I always seek to work with the experts. Either it is about Canvas or Dog grooming (not that i even like dogs, but if I did. You get my point..)

As I reflect on last year, I can’t help but truly think – what happened? I was attempting to reflect (like, actually reflect, reflect), and in talking with the best manager in the world,  @tdelillo , I realized – there are chunks missing from 2018. It’s all a blur; almost like I blacked out.
