The Greek philosopher Heraclitus is credited with the idea that the only constant in life is change. Only fragments of his writings remain, one in which he says:

Everything changes and nothing remains still; and you cannot step twice into the same stream.

I love to DREAM!  Not the sleepy day-dreaming kind.  Data Rules Everything Around Me.  I love data and enjoy making sure a ‘story’ and its data match.  Lately, I have been talking with numerous people regarding standards making the statement; ‘Standards don’t change much’.  I decided to do a little research to see if that ‘story’ matches the data. 

In linguistics, borrowing is the process by which a word from one language is adapted for use in another. The word that is borrowed is called a borrowing, a borrowed word, or a loanword. A familiar example of this in education is Kindergarten, which was borrowed from German Kindergarten, which literally means "children's garden". But where does the term "crosswalk" come from?
