Increase search functionality and flexibility of questions in Item Banks

Theme Overview

Instructors need to search, group, and add questions from item banks in different ways. 

What value could this provide to users?

• Refine a search by using a filter in the item bank then generate a random number of questions so that I can define a subset of questions that can all be used, randomized, or specify a set # of questions that can be randomized.
• Use key word search to easily locate a question in a large list

Why was this theme chosen to open for voting?

April 2023 • Instructors rely on Item Banks as repositories for quiz questions. To facilitate the transition to New Quizzes, we want to maximize what instructors can do with their questions so that they can access, share, and copy their most important items.

Why was this theme not chosen for prioritization?

June 2023 • Given our current roadmap for New Quizzes, we will not be able to prioritize this specific theme at the current time beyond the work that is already communicated on the roadmap in the New Quizzes Hub.

Hi, this would be really helpful for our institution. We create a lot of quizzes for students so they can exercise for the exam. So we also use older exam to create quizzes and therefore we are using a lot of item banks to have randomized questions within a quiz.

We encourage faculty to use Item Banks; a refined search would increase users.

This has been a want from our institution for a few years now and I really look forward to seeing what comes out of this discovery process!

We are heavily using Item Banks and tags at our institution. If we could choose random questions from a bank based on a tag or other serach criteria as mentioned above, we would be able to better use our questions and provide a more dynamic quiz experience for our students.
