How do I filter Instructure Community search results?
One way to find content in the Instructure Community is to search. By default, search results include posts that match the search criteria. To reduce the number of search results, you can filter posts by location, author, date, metadata, post type, and content.
Search Community
To search from the Community Home page, enter text in the Search bar. You can enter words, partial words, phrases, or questions.

Filter Posts
By default, the Posts page displays [1]. To limit the results, use the available filters [2].
Filter by Location
By default, search results are from any area in the Community. To view only results located in a certain area of the Community, click the Location button [1]. Then, click the folder links to open areas of the Community [2]. To select a location, click the location link [3].
Filter by Author
By default, search results include posts by all users. To view only results by a certain user or user rank, click the Author button [1]. Enter a user name or a partial user name in the Search for users field [2].
As you type, suggested users display [1]. To select a suggested user, click the user link [2].
Note: To turn off suggestions while you type, click the Turn off suggestions link [3].
Filter by Date
To view only results authored within a certain timeframe, click the Date button [1]. Then, click a timeframe option radio button [2]. Depending on the search results, you can select a day ago, a week ago, a month ago, or a year ago.
Filter by Metadata
By default, search results contain any kind of metadata. To view only results that are solved, liked, or used in a knowledge base (TKB) article, click the Metadata button [1]. Then, select one or more checkboxes [2].
Filter by Post Type
By default, search results include all post types. To view only certain post types, click the Type of Post button [1]. Then, select one or more checkboxes [2]. Depending on the search results, you can view posts that are in question forums, blogs, ideas, knowledge bases, contests, Q&A posts, and events.
Filter by Contents
By default, search results include posts with any kind of content. To view only posts containing images, videos, or attachments, click the Contains button [1]. Then, select one or more checkboxes [2].
