Our team has been working to unify the support experience, and have been migrating our support teams onto one ticketing system. Our goal with the new Mastery Connect support experience is to preserve the current workflow you are already used to.

One of the great benefits of Mastery Connect is the variety of different assessment types that can be used to support student learning! Depending on what you are assessing for, item based, rubric based (document upload), and raw scores can all be leveraged in different ways to support specific outcomes you’re interested in working on with your students. Back in January 2022, Community team member Tami B wrote a blog post introducing the Mastery Connect Great Guides Overhaul. And today, I’m excited to share that we recently put the finishing touches on that project.

The Elementary Dashboard provides a visual and organizational experience that supports young learners with a specific layout and subject-specific course organization. With Mastery Connect’s Tracker linked specifically to each subject course, and using icons to make access even easier, it allows students to have more visibility and ownership of their learning, and teachers easier access the Tracker to create standards-driven assessments and teaching.

Item Authoring is the process of creating test items in Mastery Connect using an item bank. Item Authoring can help create assessments that present more authentic context, reduce students’ random guessing, improve content coverage, and improve test-taker motivation with greater engagement. The Mastery Connect Student experience allows teachers to truly leverage the full capability of Mastery Connect. We must involve our students in the data process. Within Mastery Connect, students have access to monitor their own progress towards mastery. Questions contain DOK levels similar to what is seen on both state assessments and Mastery View Predictive Assessments. Item Bank assessments also help students to demonstrate their learning and teachers to use real-time data to inform instruction. Understanding Mastery Connect cut scores is essential for successfully utilizing Mastery Connect. Mastery cut scores are used to determine where students are performing per standard, and will automatically populate mastery per standard in each Mastery Connect assessment.
