Sample Assessment Results

View a sample of an Alabama 3rd Grade ELA Scaled MVPA Report (Class Level).

Pct Corr [1]: The percentage of items answered correctly.

Proj Ach Level [2]: Projected achievement level for the student based upon the difficulty of the assessment and the percentage of correct answers.

Achievement Level descriptions:

  • 4 = Advanced Understanding
  • 3 = Strong Understanding
  • 2 = Partial Understanding
  • 1 = Minimum Understanding

We further breakdown the achievement level into 3 sections — High (plus sign), Low (minus sign), or Midlevel (no sign).  Therefore 3+ would be high level 3, 4- would be a low level 4, and 2 would be a midlevel 2.

For classrooms, school, and district summary rows, the Proj Perc Prof(Projected Percent Proficient) [3] includes achievement levels 3 and 4.

Sugg Marks [4]: If given, suggested marks are numeric and letter grades that take into account the difficulty level of the assessment. They are only suggestions, as any grading is always the domain of the teacher/school/district.

Additional Categories

Note the following for the additional categories shown on the report:

  • The performances on all the categories are given in Achievement Levels 1-4. Refer to the Proj Ach Level description above for details on each achievement level.
  • The aggregate data for teachers, schools and districts in each category are the averages of all student's achievement levels for that category.
  • Under the names of the categories “n=#” indicates how many items there were under the particular category.

DOK [5]: Depth of Knowledge indicates each student's performance on items for higher and lower order thinking skills. DOK levels 1, 2 and 3 are used as categories for thinking skills. DOK Level 1 items are lower order while levels 2 and 3 are higher order.

Reporting Category/Group Results [6]: How each student performed in each of the reporting groups covered.

Note: The category used in the Reporting Category/Group section depends on the subject and the number of standards covered on the assessment. If there are enough items per standard (i.e., the most specific category available), the report is by standard. Otherwise, the report is by a higher (less specific) category (i.e., strand, domain, etc.) that best reflects student understanding. Some categories may also be grouped together when most appropriate.

Genre Results (ELA only) [7]: How each student performed on the items for each of the Reading Genres:

  • Fiction
  • Nonfiction
  • Poetry
  • Science
  • Social Studies
