In Mastery Connect, as a teacher or other user without administrative permissions, you can create a Spanish language item or passage. When Spanish is selected as the language for an item or passage, the text-to-speech tool reads text with Spanish pronunciation.
Note: You can also create an English language passage and tag partial sections of the item or passage text as Spanish.
Open Item Bank
In the Global Navigation menu, click the Items link [1].
By default, your personal item bank should be selected. If it is not, click the More Options arrow [2]. Then, click the [Your Name] Bank link [3].
Note: If you are an admin, you can learn about creating items in district item banks.
Add Item
Click the Add Item button.
Enter Item Details
Enter required item information. You can learn more about creating an item.
Set Item Language
To label the item as Spanish, click the Language drop-down menu and select the Spanish option [1].
To compose the item, click the Continue button [2].

Add Passage
To create a new passage, click the Passages tab [1]. Then click the Add Passage button [2].
Note: If you are an admin, you can learn about creating passages in district item banks.
Enter a passage title [1].
Optionally, select a passage grade level [2].
To label the passage as Spanish, click the Language drop-down menu, and select the Spanish option [3].
Enter passage text in Spanish [4].
Save Passage
To save and close the passage editor, click the Save button [1]. Or, to save and continue editing the passage, click the Save and Continue Editing button [2].
