How do I create a short text item?
In Mastery Connect, you can create a short text item. A short text question is an item designed to allow a student to enter a small amount of text in response to a stimulus.
You can create any item type through the Item Editor. You can also add passages to items, add item-level tools, and save the item. To open and use the Item Editor to add passages, add item-level tools, and save the item, learn more about:

Enter Question or Instructions
In the Item Editor, enter the question or item prompt in the Compose question text field [1]. When you click the Compose question field, the text editor displays [2].
Set Correct Answers
Enter a point value for the item in the Point(s) box [1].
In the Allow drop-down menu, you can click to select either the Exact match or the Any text containing option [2].
In the Value field, enter the correct answer [3].
Enter Alternate Answers
To enter alternate answer choices, click the Add icon [1].
Enter the point value for the alternate answer in the Point(s) text box [2].
Add alternative selections for the Allow drop-down menu and Value field [3].
To delete alternate answers, click the Delete icon [4].
To add additional scoring, layout, formatting, and labeling options for the item, click the More options drop-down menu [5].
Validate Answers
To view correct and incorrect answers, click the Show Answers checkbox [1].
Enter an answer in the Item Preview response box [2].
Incorrect answers display an X and are shaded red. If the answer in a response box is incorrect, the correct answer displays in the Correct Answer field [3].
The number of points awarded for the item as answered in the preview window over the number of points possible displays in the scoring bubble [4].
