How do I use the passage content editor?
In Mastery Connect, you can create passages using the passage content editor. The passage content editor allows you to format text and paragraphs, find or replace text, or view the text source in HTML. You can also use the passage content editor to insert content such as images, math, and tables.
Open Items

In the Global Navigation menu, click the Items link.
Add Passage

Click the Create button [1] then click the New Passage link [2].
Enter Passage Details

Select a Destination Bank [1]
Enter the passage title in the Title field [2].
To select an optional grade level for the passage, click the Grade Level drop-down menu [3], and select a grade range option.
By default, English is selected as the language for the passage. To create a Spanish language passage, click the Language drop-down menu [4], and select the Spanish option.
To enter passage content, click in the Passage field [5].
View Passage Content Editor
When you click in the Passage field, the passage content editor displays.
Format Text

To format text, select text [1]. Then, click a formatting button [2].
View or Edit HTML Source

To view or edit the HTML source code in the passage content editor, click the Source icon [1]. As needed, make any edits in the text editor.
Note: To exit HTML source code view, click the Source icon again.
Insert Image

To insert an image, click in the passage where you want place the image. Then, click the Image button.
Select Image

Click the Choose a file to upload link [1]. Then, select a file from your computer.
Alternatively, to choose a URL, click the URL tab [2].
Save Image

Once the image is uploaded, click the Save button.
Edit Image

To edit an image, click the Edit button [1].
To delete an image, click the Delete button [2].
Insert Math

To insert mathematical expressions, click the Math icon.
Enter LaTeX

Enter mathematical expressions using LaTeX syntax [1].
In the preview area, view how the syntax will display in the passage [2].
To insert the mathematical expression, click the OK button [3].
Insert Table

To insert a table, click the Table icon.
Set Table Properties

In the Table Properties window, specify the following properties:
- Number of Rows and Columns
- Headers (First Row, First Column, or Both)
- Table Styles
To insert the table, click the OK button [10].
