In Canvas Student 6.7, the app natively supports the Conferences page. Additionally, as of 2020-03-28, students can use a QR code to log in to the app.

Canvas Student app version updates are distributed in a phased rollout, which distributes the update to all users enrolled in automatic updates over time. The features in these notes may not immediately be available, but iOS users can manually update the app at any time in the iTunes Store. The Canvas Student iOS App requires iOS 12.0 or later.

Updated Features

Native Page Support

The Canvas Student App natively supports the Conferences page. This change helps students view conferences created in a course.

The Conferences page displays all upcoming, in-process, and concluded conferences for the course. Students can tap an in-process conference and join the conference directly from the app. Depending on the conference platform, the app will redirect the student to the mobile browser version of the conference.

Concluded conferences display recordings, but the recording may take some time to display.

QR Code

To coordinate with the Canvas web release, this feature will not be available until 2020-03-28

Students can use a QR code to log in to the Canvas Student app. This change helps students more easily log into the Canvas Student App without having to know their institution’s Canvas URL or searching for their school.

The Login page displays a QR Code link, which shows students where to find the QR code in the browser version of Canvas.
