How do I edit an item bank assessment?

In Mastery Connect, item bank assessments can be edited under certain conditions and in certain stages of their use.  

Note: Item bank assessments can only be edited by the user who created the assessment.

This table illustrates the parts of an item bank assessment that can be edited and at what stages of use.

Notes:

  • If editing permissions are not enabled for an assessment you want to edit, you can delete the assessment from your tracker and then edit the assessment. Alternatively, you can clone the assessment . Then, make edits to the cloned version and add it to your tracker.
  • When you delete an assessment from a tracker, any existing scores in the tracker will be deleted and can not be recovered.
  • Single-standard assessments that are not in trackers can be converted to multi-standard assessments, but they can not be changed back.
  • Multi-standard assessments that are not in trackers can have additional standards added, but they can not be converted to single-standard assessments.

Open Created Assessments

In the Global Navigation menu, click the Assessments link [1]. Then click the Created tab [2].

Select Assessment

To search for a specific assessment, type the assessment name in the Search Assessments field and click the Search button [1]. To filter assessments, use the drop-down menus to select sorting options [2].

Open Edit Page

To edit an assessment, click the More Options icon [1]. Then, click the Edit link [2].

Edit Single-Standard Assessments

Single-standard assessments that are not in trackers have all editing options enabled.

To edit the subject, core, or class, click the appropriate drop-down menu [1] and select the new option.  

To select a new standard, click the Standard drop-down menu [2].

To edit the title, or description, enter the new information in the text boxes [3].

To select a new item source, click the Assessment Source drop-down menu [4].

To edit privacy options, click the Privacy drop-down menu [5].

Note: Single-standard assessments that are not in trackers can be converted to multi-standard assessments, but once converted, they cannot be changed back to single-standard assessments.

Multi-standard assessments that are not in trackers have limited editing options enabled.

To edit the title or description, enter the new information in the text-boxes [1].

To select a new item source, click the Assessment Source drop-down menu [2].

To select a new privacy option, click the Privacy drop-down menu [3].

Note: Multi-standard assessments that are not in trackers can have additional standards added, but they cannot be converted to single-standard assessments.

Add and Remove Questions

If an assessment is not already in a tracker, or if you have deleted or cloned it, you can add and remove questions from the assessment.

To add questions to the assessment, use the Item Filters to locate the questions you want to add [1].
Then, to add the question to the assessment, click the Add icon [2].

To add random questions from the list, type the number of questions you want to add in the Add Random box [3]. Then, to add the items to the assessment, click the Add icon [4].

To remove a question from the assessment, click the Remove icon [5].

To view question details before you add or remove them, click the question title link [6] to display the question detail window [7].

When you have finished editing, click the Save Changes button [8].

Notes:

  • When an item-based assessment is edited, if it is not in use in any trackers, Classic (C) content that it contains is automatically updated to Enhanced Accommodation (EA) content.  Updated items display with the EA indicator in the Items in Assessment column.  Learn more about Assessment Delivery Indicators.
  • There may not be updated enhanced accommodation content for each item. If an item cannot be replaced, you will still be able to view the item and replace it with a different item from the bank.

Edit Assessments in Trackers  

If an assessment is already in use a tracker, editing options are limited, and the in use notification window displays [1].

To edit the title or description, enter the new information in the text boxes [2].

To select a new privacy option, click the Privacy drop-down menu [3].

To edit Mastery cut scores for item-bank assessments, enter the new score values in the text boxes.

Note: Be sure that the Mastery (M) score, and the Near Mastery (NM) scores do not exceed the total possible score.

Save Changes

To save edits, click the Save Changes button [1].

To delete changes and start over, click the Reset button [2].
