How do I filter items from an item bank within an assessment?
When you create an item-based assessment, you can add items from item banks. The item filters allow you to filter by standard, item bank, item type, passages, difficulty level, Depth of Knowledge value, Bloom's Taxonomy, and language.
You can also filter items based on whether they are compatible with Gradecam, printable, or multipart.
View Assessment Editor
Enter and save assessment details for an item-based assessment for one of the following assessment types:
- Formative assessment (as a teacher)
- Formative assessment (as an admin)
- Benchmark assessment (admins only)
After you save the assessment details, the Assessment Editor displays.
Add Items from Item Bank
To add items to the assessment click the Add Item button [1]. To create a new item, click the Author New Item link [2]. To add an item from an item bank, click the Add from Item Bank link [3].
Alternatively, you can click the Add icon in the Item Organizer [4].
Filter Item List
In the Add items from Item Banks window, click the Filter Items button.
Select Filters
To filter the list of items, click the Filter Items button [1]. You can filter items based on standard, item bank, item type, whether items have passages, difficulty level, DOK, Blooms, language, reserved status, Gradecam compatibility, printability, and whether the item is multipart.
In the Filter tray, the total number of items found based on the current filter settings displays [2].
Once selected, filters are saved even if you exit the Filter window, close the assessment or end your user session. To clear the filters, click the Reset button [3].
Note: As you select filters, the number of selections available for that filter type displays in parentheses after the filter name.
Filter by Item Bank
To filter the item list by item bank, click the Item Bank drop-down menu [1]. Then, click an item bank name [2]. Repeat to add additional item banks.
To remove a selection, click the Delete icon [3].
Filter by Standard
To filter the item list by standard, click the Standard drop-down menu [1], and select a standard.
The number of items that exist for each standard in the selected item bank(s) displays [2].
To add additional selections, click the Standard drop-down menu again, and select another standard.
To remove a selected standard, click the Delete icon [3].
Filter by Question Type
To filter the item list by question type, click the Question Type drop-down menu [1], and click a question group link [2]. Then, select a question type option from the group [3]. The number of items in the selected item banks that include each question type display [4].
To go back to question type groups, click the Back link [5].
To add additional selections, click the drop-down menu again and select another question group and type.

Delete Selected Question Types
To delete a selected question type, click the Delete icon [2].
Filter by Passage
In the Passages section, to view all items with passages, click the All radio button [1].
To include only items without passages, click the Items without passages radio button [2].
To select from all items with passages, click the Items with passages radio button [3]. Then, select a passage title from the drop-down menu [4].
Filter by Difficulty, DOK, or Blooms
To filter by difficulty, Depth of Knowledge, or Blooms Taxonomy, click the Difficulty [1], DOK [2], or Blooms [3] checkboxes.
Note: The number of available items for each filter option displays in parentheses after the filter name [4].
Filter by Language, Reserved Status or Other Features
By default, items in all languages are selected, to include only items in English or Spanish, click a Language radio button [1].
To include only reserved or unreserved items, click the Reserved or Unreserved radio buttons [2].
To include only items that are compatible for Gradecam scanning, click the Gradecam checkbox [3].
To include only items withr printable assessments, click the Printable checkbox [4].
To include only multi-part items, click the Multipart checkbox [5].
