How do I use the Desmos calculator in an assessment as a student?

The Desmos calculator tools can be made available to students during the Desmos assessment process in Mastery Connect. They can be activated by a district administrator or assessment facilitator in both formative and benchmark assessments. District administrators and assessment facilitators can manage Desmos calculator settings at the formative assessment and tracker levels. 


  • The Desmos calculators are only available in districts that have a paid Desmos subscription.

Enter Online Assessment

View Login Pages

Direct your students to log into Next, they will enter the test ID number [1] and their student ID number [2], which will open their assessment.

Note: Students may also be able to access the assessment in their student portal.

View Student Assessment

Your students can now begin their assessment, where they can view the tools and accommodations toolbar [1]. You can expand the toolbar by clicking the Expand Menu icon [2]. The Desmos calculators and the default calculator will display at the bottom of the toolbar [3].

Use Desmos Calculator

Students can use the Desmos calculators if they have been enabled for their assessment. To open a Desmos calculator, click the Desmos Calculator toolbar option [1]. One of three Desmos  basic calculator options will be available: Scientific [2], Four Function [3], or Graphing [4]. If your district has a paid state calculator subscription,  your state calculator will also be available here.

You can move a Desmos calculator by clicking the calculator header and dragging it to another area of the browser window [5]. Students can enter their math problems in the calculator input bar [6].
